How to find the perfect combination between minimalist style and classic style

Guillaume Alan's work respects the tradition of French design and relates it to the calm that minimalism demands.

There are places that we have to know to understand how to decorate a space that transmits a lot, using so little.

William Alanson of an architect father, an interior designer mother and an antique dealer grandmother, it would be difficult for this Frenchman to escape architecture, interior decoration and furniture design. He thus became an expert and his work is praised and sought after internationally.

He opened his own studio in Paris at just 22 years old and currently has a studio also in London that is led by Emilie Le Corre.

For Alan, it all works out if it works in sync. The harmonious connection between architecture, interior design and furniture pieces is essential.

Its spaces are defined in a very clean way, with a pure and flawless approach. The interiors breathe sensitivity and achieve emotional calm through minimalism.

The seemingly difficult relationship between minimalism and classicism is always mediated by the mastery of Guillaume Alan who never gives up on an idea, even if it seems difficult to realize it.

The straight and simple lines of the marble furniture fill the space in well-defined volumes. If we look closely, the black faucet is present in contrast to the white, but the thin body and sculptural handles approach with the recommended distance from the classical forms. The classic style is also subtly applied to the ceiling without breaking with the tranquility of the environment.

The space takes advantage of the high windows full of light and no piece of furniture interrupts its spread.

We do not find discord in the used elements of strong lines and balanced proportions, applied in the furniture and in the softness brought by the light colors. Most of the elements are challenging, but the decorative objects favor the curved lines. White and neutral tones transmit calm and tranquility, which are then reinforced with small decorative elements in wood and ceramics.

Classic design doesn't have to be boring

In the two-storey apartment on Victor Hugo Avenue, in the center of Paris, with privileged 360º views over the city, Alan took care of the tradition of architecture and classic design and accurately added to his modern and calm style. What attracts attention is the wooden floor, which contrasts with the white of the classic elements.
